Corporate Social Responsibility

At Canon Medical Research Europe we take great pride in our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. This includes an annual sponsorship of a local charity within the medical domain, and we spend the year dedicated to raising money for our chosen charity.  This year we have partnered with Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, some of our previous partnerships include Stroke Association Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.  Example fundraising activities that we have taken part in are The Great Scottish Run, forth bridge abseil, darts tournament, bake sales, raffles, company walks and an Edinburgh to St Andrews relay.  We also regularly organise clean-up activities to benefit the local community and environment.  Employees are encouraged to participate in these events and we are always looking for new ways to take action that benefits our communities.

Canon Bursary Scheme

As part of our commitment to supporting local universities we offer a Bursary Scheme each year to two students at Edinburgh University.

We undertake a lot of activities as part of STEMNET (the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network), a UK-wide programme which “creates opportunities to inspire young people in STEM”.  We currently have 14 STEM Ambassadors who regularly take part in activities, including volunteering at the Edinburgh International Science Festival.
