Satoshi Ikeda (Tomo)

Vice President, Strategy

Tomo is Vice President of Strategy at Canon Medical Research Europe, with overall responsibility for strategy. He previously worked for the R&D planning office at Canon Medical Systems in Japan and had responsibility for developing long-term R&D strategy there.

After gaining his master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics at Tohoku University, Tomo started to work for the Medical Information System development department at Toshiba, now part of Canon Medical Systems. He contributed to the development of medical informatics products, such as clinical information system and health check centre system for ten years. After that, he led the strategic technology development department, which had responsibility for R&D on advanced technology in the area of medicine.  During that period, he worked for JIAR to develop the Japanese standard for regional medical informatics exchange and worked as Japanese delegate for ISO/IEC JWG7, contributing to the publishing of international standards of IEC80001 series and IEC82304.

He has particular expertise in bioinformatics, database management systems, medical informatics systems, medical international regulations, medical international standards and strategy planning.
